This is a recreation from scratch of the original’s content in M8. No sampling of the original, the only three samples in the M8 file are drum sounds used for reference metronome type thing. Drums were done in Ableton due to running out of tracks on the M8 and running out of time for using my Analog Rytm from 2 tracks type work (I did create a kit or two on the AR and would like to eventually redo the drums to be more adventurous.)
The vocal content was made using a combination of Macrosynth VOWEL, VOSIM, and FOF engines. I did recreate the original’s CSound filterbanks in Max but did not have time to see the work through to completion for an instrument (happy to share the work in progress, but it’s little more than a test harness around a filterbank and a saw oscillator). Chords and things were done with M8 FM engine (reversing the original’s sine/square pads for an electric piano / chords type sounds), the bass is the trusty wavsynth tracked reasonably well given the time crunch.
Ipaghost is a genius, non-ironically, fact-like, and deep dives into their FL Studio project will continue to be an inspiration (fun fact: first time I opened FL Studio work of theirs I had no clue how to open piano roll because double clicking did not work, but worked the second time). I’ve not been happy with any of the remixes properly, but I find myself less stressed about the incomplete nature of this remix, as it’s now clear there’ll be a period of finishing all this work up, unless the OG authors hate it and convince me to not spend any more time on them.
