I stumbled on this sound as I was experimenting so I came up with a piece around it. It's the wurli sound built-in to Logic plus the built-in tape delay. I play it quick and with lots of sustain pedal, and I try to match the rhythm of the delay, so that the hits end up feeding back and creating a sound almost like a handpan. With this sound I try to stick to a harmony long enough that the small variations and errors in my playing generate enough interesting sounds that it suggests the next ideas and where to go forward.

Playing fewer notes is key, but maintaining a consistent rhythm based on the delay and listening intently to the emergent patterns is very cool and hypnotic.

It's a nice and relaxing way to play (for the mind) altho it can be a little taxing on the body as my hands end up quite tense - I always try to relax them while playing tho. It's also reminiscent of meditation where you let your thoughts arrive and depart without judging them, letting them go wherever they might lead, and hopefully landing towards a comfortable bliss.

I try to relax my hands while playing, altho it is quite difficult when I play really fast. But it's good endurance training, the more I do it the more comfortable it gets, as long as I don't overdo it... There's an exercise I learned from my drummer but I haven't put it into practice yet... It involves learning to play at a target BPM, by first practicing at two levels higher, than one higher, than the target. For example, play at 160bpm, then 150, then 140 - in order to get really comfortable playing at 140.

I had another song with lyrics but it didn't go so fast, and I'm v tired, so I didn't wanna push that one, and thus I made this one! yay!

I made a video but it's not the original take, I just made a little thing that shows kinda how it looks to play it, and looped it in a weird way.

Thanks for listening, hope you enjoyed it!
