OneFour:SevenEight

Playing in 5/7/9 a lot, sketched out this drum beat so I could practice runs and land phrases and it turned into this cool pentatonic motive so I just jammed it out.  Added some dynamics and a couple of rhythm structure changes but I wanted to keep the F to Bb SIMPLE.  Switched modes a little but nothing too fancy, no strong melodies, just having fun.

Everything sequenced and recorded into the Dirtywave M8.  This time I went straight out of a Katana Go into the tracker because it sounded good smile  Also I cobbled together a treble bleed I installed into a CBS Era heavily modded Jaguar - I didnt have any orange drops or ceramic capacitors in the 1000 pF range but I found a box polyester film one like you use in pedals, like the gray plastic box ones, and it works just as well as any other cap paralleled with a 150k resistor xD.  Unconventional but values are values.  Stayed between 50-75% on the volume pot for this to test how well the katana responded to the bleed.  Not bad - not nearly as tone responsive as a Princeton but that's to be expected.

This was fun, mixed lightly in reaper but I was 99% of the way there in the M8.

Oh man how that guitar HITS in the beginning!

Fantastic tone. Singing, with that creep of distortion to it. Your phrasing and tone has a taste of SRV - LOVE IT. And damn, the way you make 7/4 wail is fantastic - it’s a time that can feel like it staggers, you make it float and fly effortlesssly. Absolutely sounded like you were having fun! Great track.

Damn it is odd time signature week!

Solid electric guitar soloing.

Woah that hit like a train.

Lovely guitar tone and phrasing.

The 7/4 time works really well and feels very natural.

THANKS SO MUCH!  Good ears - dirtier sound than I normally play but was on the neck pickup on a jaguar that tends to give a lot of stevie overtones, I was trying to stay away from sounding too prog, so all of my fallback lines were going to be blues once I heard that tone xD

I was really stoked to hear so many other folks get into 5s and 7s the same week.  Noticed the same thing with distorted bass sounds previously, definitely got a hive mind thing happening somehow.

Thank you! That impact at the start was kind of accidental b/c I had the opening kit drums muted during the mix and accidentally kicked everything on at the same time as the guitar.  Got chills, decided it needed to stay.
