Bent Outta Shape

By Homeostatic on May 17, 2026 11:56 pm

Had a few weeks away from weekly beats. Just wasn't feeling up to it, and decided to let that be acceptable.

Trying to ease myself back into it. This also week almost didn't get recorded and I did basically no stuff in the DAW to clean it up. Just a couple of neat patches that I was jamming with, a kick and hat to keep it rolling and then playing the faders for a couple of minutes.

I'm unexpectedly happy with it.

Looking forward to hearing what you all have been up to.

It's totally fine to take a step back sometimes.
This is such a lush evolving jam, really enjoyed letting it wash over me.

This has a nice groove going with the porch bendy thing and the I'm-not-sure-it's-polymetric-or-not melody!

Deciding to deliberately let myself off the hook was important, not just stressing myself out till I fail. Yeah I was building it up over a whole afternoon and at some point I was like "hey I can probably just record this, it's kinda moving"

I am actually not sure myself. I think the actual notes are mostly on 4s or 8s, but a lot of the modulation is uneven or unsynced but then it all gets piped through a ton on synced delay to even it back out. also not having a backbeat makes hearing the actual 1 a bit subjective haha.

Porch bendy? Why do you do this to me, autocorrect...

This is completely hypnotic, could get lost in that groove for a long time. Maybe it's that bell-like tone, but overall effect reminds me of dense gamelan music. Very cool work.

We can pretend it's just a niche genre term.

Thanks! Yeah it was definitely one of those more hypnotic sessions, felt more like steering the track rather than creating by the end.

Hell yeah, trippy, dark electronica to vibe to. It's good. I'd not be surprised to hear it in some alternative club.

Love the dark springy energy
