quite happy with this week. i spent more time tweaking it than composing. which is good for me, i usually spend too long on the composing side then whiz through mixing and mastering too quickly so am usually unsatisfied by the end.
this week i decided to start away from ableton as i was getting sick of c major at 120 bpm. i find myself composing way too much in c major due to it being push's default setting. however, that's more to do with me not being creative than the fault of the software/ hardware. so the main riff was composed on chordion, the ios app [which i really like but never use too much]. there's also a 3/4 drum line from chordion imposed underneath the main 4/4 rhythm, however it's bundled out of sight somewhat as it's pitched down an octave and time stretched.
i played around a lot with mastering through my old tape players, even busting out my sony reel-to-reel. despite the odd element of hiss i loved the sound. unfortunately ableton seems to dislike using external hardware right now, insisting that it can't find a .add file when exporting. which is definitely a new thing to me. it exports fine when not using external hardware btw. so i routed the rendered .wav through audiomatic in reason to try and approximate the sound. not quite 100% there but a passable mix.
and apologies for all the clipping and fuzz. i like it that way
