Abyssal Gaze

By hieroglitch on January 16, 2022 10:33 am

Entire track was dawless on a TR06, currently my favourite piece of gear.

The session was recorded into Ableton where some sections were cut.

I did best to mix/master it. If that means it's not dawless then subtract some internet points from me or something.

Melbourne is an inferno currently, so I am doing what I can with the time I have.

thanks! I am working on getting better at the high end of things.

Good movement. The hats have this whole "waiting room clock" feel to them. Always progressing and staying interesting. Who needs more than a drum machine anymore??

that clock sound with the hats was something I only recognised after the track was done and up on the website. completely unintentional, but a welcome surprise.

After spending two hours last night trying to get something going in Ableton, this sentiment speaks to me on a deep, spiritual level. TR06 is love.

Simple but I like this persistent bass. It brings something dark. Like a slow version of Jaws.

Cheers! Glad you liked the persistence. By end of 2022, I hope I can start adding some more complexity to what I make.

Great sounds and vibe. Love the ratchet sound and stereo effects.

Always a fan of distorted drums.

Thank you! The TR06 never ceases to amaze me.

Absolutely, I could listen to 808 kicks through distortion for days.

wait all of this on the TR06?  that's wild, you're using it in a really musical way.

you actually retained all your dawless internet points and then i gave you more points for musicality on a drum machine and then you got a bonus point for great, evocative title.

sincerely, internet point gatekeeper lol

Yeap! It is insane what can come out of it, and with such ease. I am glad you liked it!

I am glad I have not lost internet points.

This has a NIN vibe circa "The Fragile", which I really love. It's dark and moody, but it has a fucking groove.

Now that's a compliment! I think most of my formative teenage years were playing The Fragile and TDS on repeat.

brb, gonna go start a genre called "groovy NIN"
