Cosmic Breaks

By hieroglitch on January 23, 2022 12:06 pm

This was not the song I had planned for this week but it is the song I have.

Saturday night I kicked the bottom of the staircase. I fractured things.

I do regret not sampling the horrendous crack my foot made. Hindsight is 20/20 but I am not going to fracture things just to sample it. Tempting but no. Sorry.

So Sunday evening I put this together.

I love making weird dark ambient breaks. I made some of it previously and loved it enough to release it on bandcamp.

Here's to a new week where I hopefully do not break anything.

Note: name of the track was not an intentional reference to me breaking my toes. Sorry.

Simple yet effective.  Dubby.  That tuned kick was a nice addition.

I am starting to embrace this about my music, it took awhile to accept but I guess less can be more?

It really is nice: warm, bassy kicks are always going to be somewhere in my music

Less can definitely be more. cool

Knowing when not to play is important. The delay on the drums implies a lot of weight and is very musical in this case.

I love that delay. I think it might be the default one from Ableton 9 or 10 and it just works.

Seems like this year will be the year of musical drum delays.

Big fat sounds! The syncopated delays work really well in the wide open spaces.

Totally Nostrom. Awesome.

cheers friendo! it certainly looks like a release is on the horizon smile

Ok holly shit these fucking breaks. Holy shit. Everything about this is perfect.

Also fuck that sucks about your foot. My back is totally fubar'd right now. It's driving me nuts. I hope you're ok.

The bass in this track is motherfucking brilliant.

Damn dude, you're gonna make me blush with these compliments. You are too kind. If it's not noticeable by now, I fucking love breaks heart

Yeah, bones are stupid. I am like a really trash, knockoff version of Gumby with these health issues. I feel your pain about the back, it's something I have issues with as well and it's crazy how it can completely stop you from doing -anything-. May the back pain gods give you some reprieve sooner than later (or at least some great painkillers)

Glad you liked the bass, if you're keen on more, there is some more of it over on bandcamp/streaming under the name Nostrom.
