but no time to shape

Mostly just doodling on the Deluge. Finding little pockets of atmosphere and watering them to see if they’ll grow.

I decided to read Dune again. There is a scene I really like where Paul awakens to a higher level of understanding. It's quite quick. It frightens him but he can’t stop it, and in that moment he loses his childhood; it slips away from him and is replaced by what he calls his “terrible purpose.”

I took the title of the song from the following excerpt:

“He felt the heat and cold of uncounted probabilities.

He knew names and places, experienced emotions without number, reviewed data of innumerable unexplored crannies. There was time to probe and test and taste, but no time to shape.”

Dune does not get old. smile So much depth, that is really appreciated as we get older.
Good track - I like the textures you have from 1:09, sounding like a synth going through a wah. Nice meditative track!

It's reflective and peaceful and heavy feeling chords, a perfect song to be lost in your thoughts. The slow drum is good adding to this, so nice.

You catched a very pleasing atmosphere in this song. With a little melacholic touch, what I like.

I've got Dune on my "to read" pile right now actually.  I read it when I was in high school and I remember really enjoying it, but I don't remember it super well now.  I agree this track creates a really nice mood.

very contemplative mood.  i love reading your descriptions, they really make your tracks come alive, like a musical storybook.

Love the peaceful chord progression.  Feels like I'm floating down peacefully through clouds.  A very peaceful feeling.

Nice slow roll. The swell of the pads forms a solid rhythm before the drums pick it up halfway through. Very cinematic feel.

Very nice, great progression and sounds, I liked this mood and could have listened longer

Super chill, love the vibe to this one. The one synth patch that sounds like wind gusts really helps create imagery.

heart this is a beautiful track.

maybe I'll challenge myself to attempt to make something so peaceful and unwinding

beautiful and peaceful track again, i enjoyed this smile

Yeah it still totally holds up. The world building is fantastic.

Melancholy is like a tone I feel myself drawn to.

Yeah I first read it years before I moved to Japan, so more than 15 years ago. It's a good one to revisit.

Thanks so much for the kind words, guys! smile

Mmm dessert. Low calorie but delicious smile

Quite dreamy.  Could be some shoegaze type pop stuff with some nice vocals!

Never read Dune but I quite enjoyed the film remake.

I'm only familiar with David Lynch's Dune and I know it's bad but...I kinda like it? Don't judge me. I would love to read the book and see Denis Villeneuve's film as soon as possible though.

This is a beautiful little track by the way smile

I like where you're going with these tracks. The chords and floaty synths are especially relaxing. I read Dune for the first time a few months ago. That's an interesting excerpt you took away. It shows his analytical mind assessing while also lamenting, if we could say he does that, his limitations.

I like the lofi drums and textures. at one point in about 2020 I couldn't get enough of this style, kinda stuff you would hear on the beats to study/relax to playlist hehe.
dunno much about Dune except the big worms tho. I'll read it someday.
