Really bare bones idea this week. I was playing with DADGAD tuning and found a riff I liked that reminded me of A Perfect Circle, so I hastily put some lyrics to it that I felt were in that vein, then recorded three takes: one for the general idea, one which my cat ruined, and one which is what I uploaded. I intended to record better takes over the weekend (there's a stretch in there that is quite difficult for me to play in the bridge and I screwed it up) but I've kind of lost my voice, so I figure I'll just upload the best I've got at the moment so I can come back to it later. Some things to keep in mind; I'd love to add a haunting piano after the first verse, and a second guitar part to come in for the second verse; perhaps you can imagine those things for me while you listen.

I'm really digging this kind of stuff you're exploring. The chord progression is really nice, the third chord adds a lot of dissonance that resolves itself on the 4th chord. Even if its a bare bones idea its a pretty solid one.

Piano and a second guitar could work, but I am digging the minimalist vibe.  There's something haunting about just hearing the guitar alone I think.

Is Renholder the track from APC that inspired this?
I agree with @CosmicCairns , actually the guitar alone and its minimalist vibe makes it even more haunting. Good job on this guitar work and general atmosphere of the track. This is a cool song.

nice

Super minimal; definitely hits the spot for me. Nice work dude!!!

Lovely playing smile I enjoy your chord progression that makes an atmosphere easy to be lost in thought. My favorite is this part 1:31 adds a new melody, I wish this is longer.

“How can I express to these people that I’ve seen parts of the world that have fundamentally changed me, and that those experiences have fundamentally changed the place I call home?”

The song fit well while listening and understanding the traveller's curse and blessing

Beautiful simple progression. Well executed minimalism that does not lack for anything. Well done!

Awesome! As others have said, really nice progression, and the variation on it towards the end makes for a great little arrangement. Great work!

great track. Expressive and intimate. I can live with this version very well. Adding piano, strings or a second guitar would be a big challange, not to overkill the vibe and ambience.

Another nice acoustic exploration. Nice! Like the progression a lot.

Thanks! I think of it as bare bones because I feel like maybe there should be a chorus or some sort of build up in there, you know?

That's encouraging feedback. Thanks so much for listening guys! I know I told you earlier in the week Kedbreak, but in case anyone was interested, it was A Stranger that inspired this track.

I was thinking about extending it actually, but I couldn't learn to play it in time for the recording...

Thanks so much, guys. Your comments have really helped me explore and develop sounds and songs on the guitar over the last year. It really means a lot to me.

The chord progression is beautiful! The guitar itself and the humming already pull you in. If you added the other ideas, that would be the cherry on top haha

lovely!

Sounds great!  Keen to hear what you end up doing with it.  Nice work.

Playing is very nice and clean. Really like the vocals too even if not too cheerful.

Really cool progression with the tone of your voice.  I can def hear the influence of APC.  I def hear a haunting piano line in there the counter the guitar.  Sounds great!
