52beats21

On Friday night I turned the OP-1 on and discovered I had recorded a sample line at some point but had done nothing with it. I have some vague memories of not liking it very much. In any case, I kept it exactly as I had first recorded it to use as an intro, then added a drumbeat, then a bass line, then a couple of melody lines, and washed it all in the CWO effect (which at lower levels always makes me think of a guy whose entire life-philosophy is to say, "just be cool, man" to everything). Now I like the sample quite a bit more.

Aye! I like the beat. When the rimshot tapping came in about 1/3-1/2 way through the track, I felt the song have worked up to a good place. That was really nice. You're introducing instruments really well as the track progresses. It's good to save things, like the sample you didn't originally flesh out. Box in the attic, as Neil Gaiman says. Put your work in a box, save it, and maybe you'll have an idea to make it into something great one day.

That was really smooth. It sounds simple but there is a lot going on and I did not notice half until they slowly disappear. Very nice job on the balance of the mix, the dreamy synth line and the tight percussion. That's like synthwave trip hop!

Chill vibes. Bass and drums locked in, solid groove. Hadn't heard about CWO effect before, looks like it's also called a Bode Frequency Shifter? Neat. http://soniccharge.com/echobode

Not a bad life philosophy. This whole thing has a cool low passed sound to it, that must be the CWO. It sounds distant, makes this whole piece that bit more relaxing. Lovely.

I have a box in my head for my short stories, but didn't think I'd stumble across a similar experience with music. Thanks so much for the comment, too. Feel like I'm slowly starting to learn what feels comfortable for creating loops and adding to them.

Every time someone says something nice about the mix I feel like I've leveled up just a tiny bit. smile

I had no idea that's what it was called until today. It's a lot of fun to play with though. smile

Thanks for listening!

Cool progression.

The sample works well.  I dig the clicky element of the beat possibly from the effect?  Very groovy tune.
