I spent the entirety of December making a beat a day (except for weekends) with the OP-Z. To keep myself from getting hung up on any one beat, I set a goal to create something within the time it took me to get from Gotokuji to Shibuya and back, which is my daily commute (about 10/15 minutes each way). I made a lot of bad/weird/strange/odd music, but I had a whole heap of fun and I learned a lot.

This particular track started in the same way; I made the intro on the commute during the week, but spent more time building it out and trying to include what I learned and enjoyed in December: mainly using randomization to make melody lines a little more interesting, and playing with the Master Track function, which allows allows for chord progressions within a single pattern.

(Recorded on an OP-Z on a lazy Sunday morning. No cat was involved in the making of this music; she opted to sleep on my pillow while I worked, which was nice of her.)

this is really cute! sometimes it's the simple, random ideas that make for the most enjoyable experience big_smile

Thanks for the comment! My goal for most of the year is just that: simple, random ideas that I enjoy putting together. smile

Lovely melodic bell like tones at the start.  Solid drum/bass groove pulls it together nicely.  And yes, embrace the random!  Tis a fave of mine.  smile

Makes me want to own one of these machines. So powerful for the size. I really liked the slew you added to the melody half way through, complimented the mood nicely.

Didn't realize you wrote this. Thanks!

It's the portability that really sold me. I love being able to quickly capture ideas and create new ones while in transit or in little 5 minutes gaps.
