What I envisioned: a piano entering in the second verse, a string-like synth line to run subtly under the whole thing, a bridge, some strumming at the end, a better vocalist. What you get: Two verses, two choruses, cars driving through the rain, another acoustic folk song, me on the vox. Also, how have I been doing this for 41 weeks now?

How did you record this one? The guitar melody is simple but works and the vocal melody is nice. It's very hard (at least for me) to hear the words so i'm not sure what this is about but i think the voice works with this setting. As you're planning what to add there, maybe you could even play with the idea of having a barrel organ. Maybe too baroque?

Good melancholic piece.

Once I heard the rain, I was excited. Cool track again. And the voice is a little louder.  I like most of your ideas for how to develop the song further. There's one I have an issue with. A better vocalist... (-_-) Become what you need. We hate our own voices, unless we're David Lee Roth, who I believe loved his voice. You have a nice voice. Keep at it. It feels right with your songs.

Lovely guitar melody! I like this sound the cars in the background that adds more your slow and calm atmosphere. It is quiet but your singing tone is perfect for the acoustic guitar. Good work smile

I did not know what a barrel organ was until today. I deliberately wanted the vocals to be a little cloudy because it's more about the sound than it is about the words, but I think the fact I recorded it all on my phone probably does it more than I would have liked.

Thanks for the kind words! I think 'better vocalist' might be the wrong term. I think it's more like when I come up with ideas for acoustic folky pieces, I have an image in my head for a vocalist, and that vocalist is not me. It's like looking for a hammer but settling for an axe because as long as you're careful, you can kind of still do the work haha

Thanks so much! I also quite like the cars because they remind me a little of slow-crashing waves.

It has a great gentle lullaby quality to it.  I think your voice fits in nicely.  I also liked the background noise.  It provided some really nice ambience.

This is a very wistful version of what you envisioned. It's not it, but it's a tribute.

You're doing great, keep at it. We're almost there.

Really nice vocals man!!

nice simple feeling, doesnt need anything more

This is very touching. So pure and sincere. I like your voice a lot, together with the pretty accoustic guitar picking. I can feel a lot of Nick Drake spirit. The recording with the ambient sounds and noises fit very well. Supergood. I wish, I had a little of this talent, which you have.

So very nice. Nice playing and singing. A peaceful mood. 41 weeks, it's amazing. Great work, what a ride.

Really soothing!

I feel grateful to get anything from you. Beautifully relaxing tune. Rain sounds and guitar never get old heart

Very lovely.  Really dig the lofi quality of the guitar recording.  Almost like a field recording with the extraneous noise.  I think if you scoop from 150hz or so down out of the vocal recording, it'll clean it up nicely and sit in the mix well.

Thanks so much for all the kind words everyone. You really gave me a lot of confidence in an area where I'm lacking, and made me think more about the song writing process and where my own vocals might sit in it. I still have a long way to go when it comes to the guitar/vox combination, but it means a lot when someone just says "this is nice".

this is so good rn. gloomy cold fall morning, hot coffee looking out my window listening to your song. that was perfect

this is just gorgeous & i love your vocals!

This is really great man.  I dont know if the cars driving though the rain was a sample or background noise from your mic, but its a really awesome touch.

This is super calming and has a Nick Drake quality to it.  Like a lullaby to the fall season.  Well done!

Ahh this is real nice. Love the buried vocal honestly. Reminds me a bit of the Xiu Xiu cover of Fast Car if you've heard that. Almost feels like someone singing to themselves just out of earshot or something. Very engaging.

The cars were background noise from an open window, I was paranoid they'd come out too loud in the recording, but the end result was a pleasant surprise. Thanks so much for listening!

Thanks! I think you might have mentioned Nick Drake once before, and thanks to that I started listening to his music. Really cool stuff and a really fascinating story behind the artist, too.

Thank you! I'm a fan of the buried vocals too, because it brings out a little of the Nier/fake language quality I liked in that soundtrack (although in my case it was mostly unintentional).
