Nykøbing Express Change

By halfbyte on January 19, 2014 8:41 pm

I have no idea what this is. It's probably mostly an exploration of the used chords in various ways. After adding the Rhodes chord to a rough drum loop, the bassline more or less popped right into my head and the arpeggio is just a try to accommodate that mid-loop chord change. I'm melodically happy with this track, but have no idea what it means, what genre this could be or how this could be extended to a whole track.

Done mostly on a train ride from CPH to HAM, with a sudden change of train in Nykøbing (Falster) that took almost everyone by surprise. (Hence the name). Mastered in my home studio.

All done in Ableton live as usual. Arp is Operator, Bass is the wonderful Max4Live Bassline synth (wow such warmth, so resonate, very bassline), Rhodes is Electric, Drums are both a 909 Drumrack and some 8bit samples I found in my 90's sample drawer a while ago.

Cool instruments, this track is kinda groovy and has nice contrasts

Ooohh I've been on that train!! But it's been too long. Anyway... I like the track, especially the break around the middle. Maybe some vocaaaals? Sample the train guy with his bad accent! You know you want to!! :-)

Great rhythms and nice synth lines. And a catchy bassline there...
