Dub Stab

By halfbyte on January 16, 2026 12:31 pm

Behold, my first ever recorded and published rap lyrics. For some reason this track called for it. Wasn't sure where the writing would take me, this is pretty much a thinly disguised battle rap.

The original idea was to take the genre a bit away from techno and more back into the bass realm, while staying in the dub techno world sonically.

Please be gentle, again, this is just a test, these are my first properly written rap lyrics and while I'm happy with the rather complex rhyme schemes, I do realise that this is a very blunt weapon I'm carrying and it needs sharpening quite a bit.

Dub plus rap is solid. The rhymes are great - doesn't sound like your first rodeo, or even that blunt of a weapon. Can't be blunt when you're on point wink
If you stay on this path I'm interested to hear the next iteration!

Oh, wow, thanks, I'll take it smile

Congrats on the first-rap...though it doesn't sound like a first. Well done. That's a slightly terrifying hill to climb, very impressed.

great dub beat! rap lyrics legit, tho didn't pay much attention! delivery maybe lacks a certain anger that I'd expect from the dub, maybe for inspiration unironically check out that meme of different levels of dub rapping .... let me find it... https://www.instagram.com/reels/DPNkfIXklpY/

def looking forward to hearing more from you in this direction!

Proper SpaceDub vibe!

The lyrics part is cool, I encourage you to continue and tighten your flow, it really shows promise I like the timber of your voice... it lacks confidence, which is normal, but please keep at it! I would recommend adding reverb and delay to the vocals, it makes a world of difference both while recording and in the mix!

Expecting to see more and improved next week! wink
