Rainy Day

This week, after some advice my guitar/music teacher gave me and unrelated reasons that caused me to listen to a lot of music with headphones on, I became hyper aware of the "spatiality" of music. Music jumped out to me in nearly all genres and decades (except old school hardware chiptunes which don't have stereo audio) that have instruments and sounds pushed way out to one side or have great delay and reverb to really open up the space. So that's what I focused on this week.
I would have liked to make some more variety in here and I still seem to have a mental block against making a melody with several variations that can be used for multiple verses and a chorus, but I did at least meet the goal I had set for myself. Hopefully this track sounds more "open and alive" than my previous attempts.
I had also originally planned for this track to be more synthpop. I was also on a bit of a Depeche Mode kick this week, but while playing with the M8, I really liked the plucked synth sound and ended up going a different direction than I had started with.
I wasn't sure what to call this track until a couple hours before the deadline. I was finishing up the track and adjusting the subtle particle sounds when I looked out the window to discover it was raining. Thus the name was decided.
I have said "I" a lot in this description and that bugs me too, but I'm up against a deadline here, so there's not enough time for me to phrase things differently. 😆
