No matter how this turns out as a song, I consider this a win for the week. On Monday, I had an idea for a bassline in my head and made some educated guesses as to what I was thinking of. That evening, I was able to create the bass sound I was going for really quickly (thanks to my training from Syntorial). Then I put in the notes I thought would work (probably thanks mostly to playing a lot of guitar to backing tracks in the past year) and everything sounded just the way I wanted! This is the first time I've been able to put something together so quickly that was exactly what I was thinking about. The "chords track" also turned out just like I wanted (or at least the fast arpeggio part in the second half), so I was really excited about that too.

Unfortunately, one of my goals for the week was to work on a good melody. I had some thoughts about this, but didn't use the voice recorder to capture those and, by the time I got the rest of the song in, I had forgotten many of my ideas for that. I did noodle on the guitar a bit and came up with at least something for that, even though I don't love it. I was really planning to go wild in the second part of the song and have a much more elaborate and interesting melody, but then family obligations called and I ran out of time to complete it. I may come back to this song again later since I at least like the way I started out with it.

But ultimately, even if the song as a whole isn't awesome, I'm really excited that I was able to think of something in my mind and translate that into actual music so quickly and easily for the first time.

Maybe you can flesh out the melody later, in the meantime, very satisfying when all things just come together like that, when you don't overthink and the song just is good.

Juicy synth sounds, quality mix!

Great work on the sound design! Also, the synths at 1:15 are delicious! Great work on getting those ideas out "on paper" like this. I still need to work on that muscle. Most of the time I just fiddle around on my music station looking for something interesting. Rarely do I come ready with an idea in my head. But yeah, that's awesome that you got to work that part of your brain, this cane together very nicely, great job smile

Nice textures

That bass synth hooks interest all by itself. Great job programming the m8 and thanks for sharing your story. I tried to think of song today and failed to even hear anything in my mind, so I'm encouraged by your success!
