magic_silver_box - 14-02-07 (gify remix)

Silverbox sent me some stems of an acid track so I did a remix of it this week. The beginning sounds like it starts where his stems end, but then I morphed into something totally different by the end. I had so many different ideas for this track that I decided to just embrace the mess. This is a song about the creative process. smile

It sounds like a battle between synthesizers for the first half of the song, where each one comes in and plays it own little intro melody, then they duke it out about half way through as their melodies all get mashed together.

Played with some free mastering plugins on this one too, hope the bass isn't overkill! (You Wa Shock and MHorse P3)

cool ideas. the bass might be a bit much, but whateveer. it's wb, the land of hasty masters. wink

some artists just mix with tons of beat  bass, and I think if they can pull it off, more power to 'em (scorn, meat beat manifesto, muslimgauze all made careers out of it). not that this sounds like those guys, but yeah.... it's pretty subjective.

what a beautfiful mess :-) the final overlapping synths at the end are wicked. Mix sounds very warm and balanced for me (at least with a crappy low-fi-headset right now at work, but based on experience tracks that are sounding good on that ARE well mixed. :-)

Not messy for my taste, at least not in a bad sense... Is that a Casio hi hat I hear (I use plenty of them) ? Some casio chords also?

Sounds more like a mini dj set or an impromtu mix, and I think that's it's very attractive. Spontaneous and fluid

Sounds good!

Thanks laguna!

Yep, that's a Casio hi hat! heart The lofi chords are an OPM VST synth (Sega Genesis chip?) called Nostaljia.  There's 3 bassline tracks: one is a 303, one's a sample from a Casio CZ-5000, and the one that I really drive in the middle of the song is FabFilter Twin.

So much bass everywhere! :-)
