some artists just mix with tons of beat  bass, and I think if they can pull it off, more power to 'em (scorn, meat beat manifesto, muslimgauze all made careers out of it). not that this sounds like those guys, but yeah.... it's pretty subjective.

what a beautfiful mess :-) the final overlapping synths at the end are wicked. Mix sounds very warm and balanced for me (at least with a crappy low-fi-headset right now at work, but based on experience tracks that are sounding good on that ARE well mixed. :-)

Not messy for my taste, at least not in a bad sense... Is that a Casio hi hat I hear (I use plenty of them) ? Some casio chords also?

Sounds more like a mini dj set or an impromtu mix, and I think that's it's very attractive. Spontaneous and fluid

Yep, that's a Casio hi hat! The lofi chords are an OPM VST synth (Sega Genesis chip?) called Nostaljia.  There's 3 bassline tracks: one is a 303, one's a sample from a Casio CZ-5000, and the one that I really drive in the middle of the song is FabFilter Twin.
