Random Equipment Dice Game part 1

By george bowles on January 25, 2026 1:47 am

So, over the years I've collected a good amount of instruments and effects pedals. I want to incorporate all of my gear somehow into my weeklybeats 2025. So, I made two lists, one of about 18 sound sources and the other with about 18 effects pedals. I have to redo the list because I uncovered a box in the closet with two or three more items for the lists! but anyway, this is a start... it's a very loose feedback generator and guitar piece that incorporates a drum machine running in the background.

so i randomly selected for this week a feedback generator (got a couple ways to do this so it'll appear again later on), my telecaster, a zoom b1on multifx/looper/drum machine, a Pure Sky overdrive by Caline guitar pedals, and a Cartridge Dust fuzz from arcade audio. Besides the drum machine, guitar, and feedback generator, I also randomly selected acoustic soundsource (which was a tambourine) and a korg monologue synth! so you'll hear two different basslines one sort of amorphous feedback and the other an analog synth.

I don't know if I will do anything with this but it's a fun little home studio project that hopefully sounds interesting! it's a little bit discombobulated and floaty, but it's kind of supposed to be like that. going through some weird times. anyways, I will have fun recording with all my various gear to start the year. thanks for listening.

Sounds like a fun and creative way to utilise all your sound toys.  That fuzz is super fat and nasty.  Very cool.  The sprawling impro is a fun and noisy journey.

Long live the dice!

There’s something soothing about this level of chaos haha

hahahaha yesssss it's going to be fun! this is just the practice round of the dice game, now I have 20 in each category so a real d20 can be used without any adjusting.

Dungeons and Distortion pedals

This is awesome! I love the psychedelic noise sounds, and the concept for how you select your instruments is really clever. Keep em coming!

i'm glad you like it and the idea! I will! although this week i went back to what i was doing the first three weeks, so week 6 will be next dice game! it also worked really well when i went to my friends house, we would each roll to see which of his instruments we would play during a given movement. we even randomly chose the length of our performance.
