Psychic Attack - Polar Vortex

improvised psychedelia band Psychic Attack had a show this week, so we actually practiced ahead of time since we had a new bassist and we wanted to get him up to speed for the show. while we recorded the show too, I only got to these sessions so far. this is probably the first thing I've mastered in ableton live and I really like the analog emulation available on there, as well as some of the weird reverbs. this recording was done on the sixth of January, during which Chicago suffered a polar vortex of perplexing proportions. luckily it didn't stop us from practicing, even though I couldn't get my car running. this is pretty much what you would expect: swirling psychedelia and near-chaos except for when I introduce the xylophone, which was an unexpected improvised element. although it does get heavy. am on drums here (no bass drum pedal available yet since the one at the house broke last time I drummed and I forgot to bring the replacement as it was in my van), but usually play guitar (we were waiting for our drummer). recorded with 2 room mics through an analog mixer into a portable tascam recording device and mastered in ableton and soundforge.
