New Lands

went on vacation this past week and brought along my tascam dr-03 and my samsung galaxy s2. between the two, I got a variety of recordings from my trip to New York. I've traveled most of the rest of the country (well, except for NOLA and  southern Cali, so I guess I still have a ways to go) but I haven't been to the northeast. NYC in particular. stayed with different friends who have moved there and had a blast. very fun first trip! going there by myself and figuring out the train system and road system was kinda crazy though. I got kind of half-assed directions, but smartphones kick ass. anyway, whenever I was out and about I'd record some interesting sounds with my samsung and sometimes I'd have the tascam with, but mostly I used that at the last place I stayed, which had plenty of instruments such as an acoustic and two different xylophones. next week will be part 2 of this idea where I used android software to create the tracks.

I like hearing the travel tracks that people have put up because I'll be going overseas for a month and will have to sort something out.  Gotta love digital recorders and smartphones!

good pedal tones and chromaticism in the guitar track, gave the song story-like tension and relief (ambivalence and whatnot). anyhow, soundscape appreciation station ovah heah
