George Matt Bowles - weekly beats week 5 - Biblically Accurate Angels

i was able to obtain a strange speech given by a guy who is a cross between a numerologist and a jesus freak and he just goes off for a long time about numerology and religion and i'm working on a three part EP (3 songs) that has this guy going off as the main vocal sample, plus some really weird beats made with the drumbrute impact going through guitar pedals. it's super fun using the red panda particle pedal with the different output channels! along with several other pedals. as far as the sound design goes it's definitely into some of the noisier Mick Harris (Scorn) beats and the more experimental and noisy Meat Beat Manifesto/Jack Dangers beats. also Justin Broadrick (Techno Animal) is a huge influence on me as well. I'll be dropping a few bandcamp releases soon and this will be an EP based on that guy's speech. also, I been listening to King Tubby a lot this week, might have influenced me too.

Wild. The way you get little snippets of intelligible speech is so cool. Not sure that it would make more sense listening to it straight haha. Loving the chaos!

ha yeah the vocal effects make it more interesting i think! otherwise it just sounds like a crazy dude going off preachin' about numerology with a ton of jesus. i wanted it to kind of get warped and unintelligible at times, with parts of the dialog becoming more clear and/or noticeable here and there. thanks for listening!

for everyone reading, what i meant by "goes into" other's beats, just that they influenced me in making my own.

This is a unique sick groove. Well done! I really dig this. I love your creative use of this sort of field recording sample. Very cool!

Intriguing title, so stopping by. The distortion and glitchiness here is prominent, but nicely contained to not overwhelm the listener. I like the end result. Can't say I learned anything about the biblically accurate angels as the vocal samples are mangled beyond comprehension, but that's probably for the best big_smile

Good stuff.

very much enjoying this one - great stuff! - I need to pull out some old Scorn/Mick Harris cds later, its been too long.

WILD track! hypnotic psychedelic noisy yet groovy beats. funny main vocal story, can't understand a word tho so it's probably fine.

thanks for your comments and listening, you guys! I appreciate ya. yeah i think i kept going too far with the sample processing on the dude talking but he was just absolutely non stop talking about numerology and it is just weird. and he sounded a bit too much like your average annoying preacherman. I think maybe the sample will be more clear on the other two tracks from this session.

This holds such an appealing grungy crunch to it, and you mixed all the elements together so well heart

aw thanks so much! i have been working on my mixing skills for soooooo long now, i feel like i have the proper tools finally to mix how i mix, that and i've learned a lot over the years. mixing and mastering are definitely an art! and experience helps a ton, i wasn't very good at it for a while for various reasons but i'm really happy with what I've been making the last few years smile

also, i relistened to the track and i can hear what he's saying especially towards the beginning, it is confusing though because his voice is being pitch shifted down as an extra layer over it.
