Father's Day 24

By george bowles on June 16, 2024 9:03 pm

I have no idea what to call this, and i want to do vocals on it later on, because it might be one of the tracks for my shoegaze/psyche rock project i've been working on. so I guess i'll just call it father's day 24.

this week i am uploading with only 3 hours to spare, making it the closest to the deadline i've come all year. so far.

i think i just scratched my itch for radiohead meets early pink floyd, or something. post-rock meets psyche rock. or whatever.

one thing that inspired me was realizing i hadn't used my arturia drumbrute Impact for over a month! felt like two. so that begun the track, it's actually the drum brute analog sounds mixed with a midi instrument: emergent drums. my first randomly made drum kit was a hit with me, so i rolled with it. to the two drum tracks i added a stereo guitar track, and then a stereo hydrasynth track on sunday. over half this song was done early saturday night, but the hydrasynth plus vsti's was recorded sunday afternoon, after I mixed the previous night to give it a more clear sound before doing that last overdub.

i kind of botched the ending, did too much of an edit where it sounds cut off, but i think i might change the ending anyway, after adding vocals down the line.

thanks for listening! can't wait to hear what you did this week

A subterranean pastiche of organic and mechanical rhythmic sounds.  Kind of old school industrial noise.  Nice work!

I get the Pink Floydish sounds, but was looking for Radiohead, but couldn’t find. This was a wild mix, bro.

thanks for listening! Yeah I think it was the bass synth parts that reminded me of hail to thief era. But it's probably a good thing it's not too radiohead hahaha. Does a wild mix work? Or does it need to be remixed? Yeah when listening back, I had told Entropica that I was really happy with the mix at first but when I heard it again I wasn't so sure.

I love the idea of melding organic with mechanical! That's basically what this track is all about
