Yellow Colours

By Gatic on April 1, 2012 4:03 pm

This is an offshoot of my piece Yellow Stain from an earlier week (in fact, this is probably more the 'main' version, while Yellow Stain is a cut down version that's then been built up again in a different way).

I wouldn't describe this as 'unfinished' (mostly because that would be against the rules) but, at some point this year I'm going to revisit this and re-orchestrate it all. For instance: the string quartet bit in the middle was done in Sibelius while the rest was done in Live. That's obviously not very good of me. When I redo it, it will all be done in Live.

I love when people use strings in an interesting way. That's one of the main things I try to achieve in my music, to use strings in a way that is immediately really interesting to the ear. You can hear my attempts at that at the end of my last piece, Mucky Piano, and in the violin of this piece. I won't go so far as to say that I achieved it, but I hope you enjoy listening to it regardless.

This piece is awesome, I love pop-strings, the way that you combine electronics & orchestra is really cool!

sounds really cool, loved the end.

Really cool!  I love the string and piano piece in the middle.  Crazy panning sounded like a viola may have flanged its way through my brain.

nice and pretty ;>
