alone with the bass

By friendlyperiscope on January 28, 2024 8:40 pm

another sunday, another song!  (that is still quite the amazing thing to me.)

i tried to put more texture in the thing this week.  i think that kind of worked, which means that this song has a bunch of weird effects at the end.  and a long double section where we are alone with the bass.  i did not want to re-record and did not like cutting it short, so here we are.

on the other hand, i continue being impressed with the bass sounds i am getting out of the op-z.  going deep but satisfying does not seem to be a problem. smile the song is mostly made on the op-z, then recorded onto the op-1 in 2 takes and then "performed" with some reverb to the mixdown thing the op-1 has.  i'd like to have had a b-section and more voices, but i used up the op-z voices and also did not figure out which key i am actually playing in.  still, a little melody, bass, an arp and two (i think) chords go a long way.

that bass patch is deep! favourite bit was the stereo moment around 2:40, worked really well with the arp. thanks for the music!

I like the subtle bounce to this one, stays nice and minimal, which makes the arp feel really good when it enters.
