Calling

The Song
This week I wrote a song about how God has revealed himself to everyone through everything that he's made in creation (Romans 1:20). Everything in nature that's beautiful and amazing and intriguing and terrifying was made by him and so were we, as humans. But unlike the rest of creation, humans were made in his image. We were designed to have a perfect, intimate relationship with him - that's what we were meant for. Our sin has ruined and severed that relationship, but through Jesus he's calling us back...

I'm still experimenting with breakbeats. My 14 year old son says all my music sounds the same and has too much going on. I don't really care - I'm enjoying the learning process. :]
This was the closest I've come to not finishing anything for Weekly Beats. Despite it being Easter and having time off from work, I still had pretty much just a loop by Sunday afternoon. But for better or worse I was determined to try to turn it into a song. I don't want to leave things so late again or put so much pressure on myself. It wasn't fun for my family, either! I had to throw the lyrics together and record vocals pretty quickly and it came down to the wire, but I got there in the end. Happy listening!

verse 1
See the stars
The universe
Oceans too vast
To fathom
And though He knows
My every thought
He still stoops down
To save me
chorus
God's calling you to be more human
He's calling you to lift your head
You're a masterpiece, a poem
He designed your heart to follow
And He's calling you to live for Him
verse 2
Amidst the wind
The breath of life
A still small voice
Beside you
Within the ache
For something more
He'll give you rest
And hold you
