This week I went back to the idea of freeing music by imposing restrictions on the processes of composing. It's a system I caught from a French group of writers (Oulipo), who use constraints as a means of triggering ideas and inspiration.
I reversed John Cage's probably most famous work 4′33″ (in which the score instructs the performer(s) not to play their instrument(s) during the entire duration of the piece) and tried to play us much as possible during that time period.
