I think a midi file would be the best
If you guys are stuck for a melody I've got plenty lying around that I'm willing to share!
Definitely a vote for midi for me. And Pselodux feel free to share. I proper struggle with melodies sometimes.
How about a zip file with a png/jpg of the staff notation and a midi file? That should be good enough for anyone's uses.
Cool, I'll dig into the archives this weekend!
I pass the torch to you~
I'm never confident in my melody writing skills anyway
Ok, here's something I grabbed from an old unfinished track. It's very simple, but I guess that's the point? It was originally from a track that had a bunch of chord progressions, ie. the melody stayed the same while the chords changed around it. Anyway, hope it's appropriate!
We could throw in something as well if that's needed.
The results are in and the theme for week 4 is "Shared Melody" by the highest margin in theme history! (2012 and 2014)
Pselodux was kind enough to provide us with a melody for this theme

Are we restricted to this key, or can we move it around as we see fit?

A melody stays the same no matter what key it is in. I'll stick to this one though, it's very easy to play on the uke.
I'd say just do whatever you like with it. Slow it down, speed it up, change key, modify parts, etc. I see it as more of a starting point of inspiration rather than a strict guideline!
Haha I wasnt going to follow the theme stuff but I cant say no to a pselodux melodee!
(I thought you were gonna troll everyone and use the penguiv lead line tho dude, lol)
Not sure who else worked with the melody, but I had fun;

iterations
AFK from studio during production, but so glad I had week4's midi stem to extract and build something from !
Now with Video, again still away from studio, not entirely ideal working environment...

So far there's three completely different takes on the melody. :-)
