A dinar

Happy new year! Starting by picking up where I left with a very short song in Català.

Recorded in one take, playing guitar and singing at the same time. Kinda trying to train and practice my performance and improv skills, but also it's just more comfortable for me to make and record a song this way. Even though I'm still recovering from a shitty week of coughing. This week I ended up mixing a part on 3s with a part on 4s, but wasn't easy for me.

About the lyrics, I just came back from spending quite some time with my family this winter, and one of the things that I never really thought about when it happened every day growing up, but that I find interesting now after being away from my home quite some years, is how my mom, and my grandma, really care about everyone being seated at the table before anyone starts eating.
Not that they are so strict about the "start eating" part, but they do about the "sitting" and being there when the time arrives to eat and plates are served at the table.
Specially my mom would really get seriously angry if she has to call anybody for lunch more than once.

Thus the title and the song this week, inspired by my mom and grandma:
A dinar! (catalan for Time for lunch!)

A Dinar! Va, veniu!
que el menjar se us gelarà
Ja fa rato que la taula està parada
i estic cansada de cuinar tot lo matí

PD: stop the genocide in palestine

Beautiful song and story! It's so relatable, my romanian grandma is the same, tho she is very tolerant of our bad behaviour when it comes to being late to lunch. but she cooks for my parents (me only when I travel there) every day and it's impressive how much she gets done from morning to lunchtime. nice that you captured this daily event in a song!

I love the way you sing the "jazz scatting" solos, I haven't heard it anywhere else except your songs. It would be nice to hear it with more vocal training like you said you wanna do, i.e. more confidence in yourself and using more power in your voice (which is not easy without training, even when it comes to the mental blockage of singing louder and more confidently), but otherwise it's charming and fits the style very well.

glad you're back to weeklybeats, looking forward to all your songs big_smile

You have a great voice!

This is so lovely and warm. Now I'm hungry.

What are the lyrics at 0:47?

Those are just improvised lyrics. I'm saying something on the lines "How is it possible that nobody is here sitting yet, I've been standing the whole morning preparing nobody helped me and nobody is here when it's time to eat"

Lovely!

Impressive, all in one take. This song has a good vibe.
