the edges are frayed

A bit more time and mental headspace (weirdly) to work on things this week.

A bit of self-sampling from a 2011 (or even 2010) piece called Impressions of Satie II, which was performed by a pianist way back then. Also sampled some FM radio that was being randomly modulated by the 0coast. A little bit of my terrible singing (gotta start somewhere!) but running through Clouds. Deluge. AUM.

I'm thoroughly enjoying this iPad setup, but now I'm considering whether to buy a portable interface for it. Maybe if I ever do this stuff live.

The edges are frayed.

radio sounds awesome - what are you using, that ADDAC? I was looking for something like that a while back. gosh when the pitch drops at 2:10 it sounds HUGE. I wanted to say something nice about your singing but I can't quite make it out - there's lots of voices but it sounds like they're all coming from the radio. anyway, I like the vibe of this.

Thanks! Singing is mainly in the first part and was done through an electret microphone into the sensor input on the Koma Electronik Field Kit.
Radio is actually the Field Kit that has the tuning function modulated by the Make Noise 0Coast's random voltage stepper. The FieldKit is then running into the Mutable Instruments Clouds in granular mode, which is running into my interface (MOTU Ultralite AVB), and then into the iPad. Glad you like it! I've become obsessed with Burial - but also the kind of discourse around his work. I knew about Hauntology as an idea in philosophy but hadn't come across it relative to Burial. Obsessed.

love the atmosphere here.

the contrast between the ambient intro/outro and the middle repetitive boomy section is gripping
