six figures signifying decay (electronics run)

Kind of wild week. Got booked in for surgery that's been at least half a year overdue, got that done on Monday last week (hence, no submission, though it's not really an excuse. I was also busy preparing for said surgery). Been in mucho pain this last week, took some time off job but probably not as much as I should have, and completed this piano piece I've been working on for a few weeks called Six Figures Signifying Decay. It's for piano and electronics. I thought about skipping today's weeklybeat deadline, but instead decided to make a quick render of some of the electronics part for the piece.

If you are into dots on (virtual) paper you can check out the score here. I just improvised a bit with the cue triggers to make this version, then messed with it a bit in post. All sounds are generated from two recordings sent to me by the pianist. A rendition of these prompts plus some improvised responses to them. I manipulated some of them through the Organelle and recorded the output. All told, I got six bits of recorded piano which I then used in Max, and is all sample-wrangled in Max, and that's what you hear. All piano, basically.

What a week.

Performance of Six Figures this Friday night in Sydney, I think.

ug - i miss having a piano... i want to sit and play this out on a piano...

hope you have your pain managed some
