red velvet

By fc on March 8, 2020 1:39 am

named after the cupcakes I made for a birthday tea.

New version 3.1 of my electronic instrument + Organelle (picostudio 4 track tape looper). Featuring Josh Kyle doing my mesostics (last heard in breeze) and also featuring last week's "end" piece.

Playing at Lebowskis (Cross St, Brunswick East, Melbourne) this Sunday the 15th of March at probably about 5pm with my new ensemble: pleebland. Taking this setup (probably plus an ipad) out for a live spin with some pals to make some noise.

I'm disappointed with the red velvet coming from the cupcakes, I was expecting a much sexier surrounds when I saw the title.  Haha.  At least some serious curtains.

Great bit of sample mangling.  Would be great to hear in an ensemble setup!  So this is all Organelle doing the heavy lifting?

Come to Cross St!
Organelle is dealing with already mangled sound and further mangling it. I'd say it's about 30% Organelle-mangling and the rest is Max, but Max is the instrument being controlled by me via BeatStepPro.
https://patchstorage.com/picostudio/ <- this is the Organelle patch.

I did consider making some comment about red velvet being pretty unsexy in this case, but figured it'd come up in the comments. big_smile

... I realise it's a bit of a hike to Melbourne re my other comment. tongue

Fuck me! This is what I imagine it's like coming down off the skag. Perfect hangover listening. But seriously, I'm loving your output lately with these patches. I'm definitely going to try and make it to the gig.

Thanks, Kevan. I'd be stoked if people listened to this when coming down from heroin; that'd be some trainspotting shit. I'm really enjoying making stuff and improvising like this, it's been so long since I did anything live. That being said, I'm fairly intimidated for Sunday.

Nice, will try to come down and introduce myself!

I liked when this started to take form and repeat midway - definitely hypnotic

This is psychotic and I love it. Organized chaos at it's best.

Yes! That'd be great.

I do love to kind of accumulate stuff and then lock it in and then destroy it bit by bit again. It's a nice form.

Thanks! When I first read this comment I thought you wrote "psychadelic" and I was like "yeah cool I can dig that" but psychotic is way better.
