I've been toying with the idea of making an "ambient" beat-based EP or LP with field recordings taken in/around Melbourne. This is a quick demo whipped up on the Deluge, with a sliced up recording from a market that I go to most weekends. Not bad as a proof of concept. To be refined.

Is the field recording the lower layer in the back? Or are you using some cut elements as percussions for instance?
Some of the synth lines sound like bubbles emerging from a lake, like little bubbles of light from a dark blue water.
