Chromanticore

By FalseTragedian on January 25, 2026 11:20 pm

Bought myself an OP-XY with graduation money last year, and life events starting almost at the same time as its arrival just sapped all enthusiasm I had for creative endeavors.
Things are slowly getting better, so now I figure I should actually learn to use the thing.

The much-vaunted Brain function does not know what to do with a chromatic scale.

This is the most time I've spent on a track this year... not that you'd be able to tell. First several takes of this were live-performed, then I gave up and used Song Mode. Punch-in FX are still live though. All piped into a Mini Kaoss Pad 2S mainly because it works as a master recorder.

Could be better but I'm out of time.

Hey! We met some time ago and I got an S-1 from you locally. Really stoked to hear your music, this is great. That kick is super! I totally get you on managing our expectations against our abilities and available time. Live performance is especially challenging for me, metasequencing patterns is where it's at! Congrats on the graduation, hope you have more time for music, because I'd love to hear more of it.

Love this! Bass and kick are impossibly thick and huge  - makes the filter sweeps and little drops all the more effective. Harsh sound over the top later on was a great contrast. Awesome.
