The Ashes of our Vanity

Bit of modular with support from my MPC.

Quite happy with this, needs a lead part and a proper ending, but it feels like it's almost done.

I am getting some calming NIN vibes. I've listened to it a few times and it's perfect: I don't think it needs anything else.

Except maybe a bit of compression to bring up the volume, but I also feel like a hypocrite suggesting this - I can also have the same problem.

Did you use a lot of modular to create this? (I'm on the fence about whether I go down that rabbit hole).

Wow thanks, that's great to hear smile Noted re: volume, will focus on that when I'm doing further wok on it.

It's not the most complex patch, mainly relying on Rings (a resonator) and a 4ms Dual Looping Delay, plus a few fx modules and some sync'd LFOs/envelopes.

Rabbit hole is exactly the right term for modular though. I adore it and for me it's the ultimate form of synthesis, but it's very easy to sink a ton of money into achieving something you could do a lot easier on a fixed architecture synth. If you haven't already, I'd highly recommend trying out VCV Rack to pick up the basics and see if you think it's something you'd enjoy.

Very chill~

Not sure your DAW, but Ableton's compressor does a great job of bringing up volume.

I love the track even more knowing it's a simple config.

VCV rack is great, I've messed around with it a bit, and I have owned a few semi-modular pieces in the past and was always a bit lost.

With that being said, it's been in the last year or two I feel like I've suddenly understood synthesis way more, hence the temptation.

the TR06 has some awesome eurorack friendly integration, so I'd probably start off with a pico drum or two. Thank you for such a detailed response heart
