Kissed Me (TWICE!!)

Took a short hiatus from writing music for the last couple weeks. I hadn't really gotten my head away from writing music since last August, so I was starting to get burnt out and it felt like I could not glue any ideas I had together into anything more than a short loop. I have also been in a lot of pain, particularly my head, stomach, and eyes. It's been hard to be motivated to do anything more than rest.

But, I have still been messing around with some sound design and loose sketching in the background. This one turned into something pretty good! I have been trying to use these clips of my friend talking about her first kiss since she sent them to me. A few songs have a pretty altered version of this in them, but I finally found a setting that fits with the story she is telling.

This is pretty much all M8 instruments besides her and some drum samples! I've really been enjoying making chiller, more simple music (by my standards). I have never written anything like this that vamps on a good groove, and I think it goes to some really fun places. My uncle, visiting for Easter, said he got goosebumps from it!

Thanks for all of the kind and uplifting feedback recently. It really means a lot.

This track I ended up repitching down 3 semitones in post and I like that version a lot more. I realized the story voice of Lila here is a bit too fast and chaotic, and this all sits better when it’s like 20bpm slower.

The Club in My Pillow and All for Me are my favorites, too. And India Underwater. All three of those each took about a month to make, whereas everything else was truly within the week.

I will make a mental note to dedicate some brainpower to listening to more of your music. I am going to try to listen more while taking lessons. I’m much better about giving feedback and comments if you send things directly to me, so if you literally ever have a track you want some extra love on, you can send it to me. You don’t even have to type a whole message. I’ll know what’s up.
