Strength and Graffiti

By Evan on February 9, 2014 11:18 pm

This is a score for a short film that one of my good friends is doing. It follows some street artists in San Francisco as they create giant murals with spray paint. While watching some of the footage I heard the sounds of the spray paint cans, and thought "I should just record all the sounds I can get out of a spray paint can and make the music with that". So I did. Everything but the kick, bass, and a pad layer are made from spray paint can recordings.

Excellent use of micro tones once again.  Adds a lot to the track.

really awesome. especially the idea to take a spray can and turn it into music. kudos to you, sir!

great mix on this.

Nice.  I always dig it when found sounds and other non-traditional sourced are utilized.  The spray paint cans have a distinctive sound that works quite well here.
