Mau P's "MERTHER" track came on my rotation and inspired me to make something with vocals. i started laying down that track for reference and my ear caught some vocal chops, and spin back/scratch samples, as well as some interesting arrangement stuff like a "pre-intro" of sorts and then some really deep sub work on the drop.

i looked for "tag:vocals" here to find a couple other weeklybeaters and how they used vocals. they mentioned Splice but i remembered looperman from past spelunking. found this amazing singer jaymuusixx who had some acapellas for free with no commercial use. i quickly abandoned trying to fully recreate the Mau P arrangement which had a darker tech-house vibe. but i employed some of the elements i liked -- pre-intro, chops, scratch/spinback effects. this is a bop for me! the main beat came to mind while washing dishes and i loved the breakbeat aspect which brought me back to late 90s early 00s r&b dance tracks. tried to dial in the mixing and mastering especially on the low end, but with so-so results i feel. still super fun to put together. hope you enjoy!

Listening to this feels good! So clean and well mastered!

Yaaaassssss, so good, so chrisp! That drum+bass drop at 0:50 is super nice. Totally see the inspo from MERTHER. Love the breaks too heart. The vocals+chops really shine on top of your arrangement. I'd get down to this at the club smile

This was dope, great use of the vocal chops and the start and stop with the scratches, nice uplifting vibe to the whole track.
