Like most of my stuff, I started with the best excerpts from some drum machine jamming and looped all the good parts, then I overdubbed about 10 different instrument takes on the loop and cut out everything but the best.  I then added the bassline and last was the ethereal vocal synth which is a preset from Cube, one of my favorite VSTs for expressive unique synth.  I only quantize my beats and just "nudge" a few things around to sync everything up, but otherwise all the synthesizer is live performance.

that's what i do too, use a lot of different techniques and some editing. anyways, this one sounded very cohesive and focused:)
