W04 - NL Study

I have used nanoloop in the past but have always struggled to find a comfortable workflow. I like the simplified sound engine, limitations, and the powerful per-step parameter control (similar to Elektron's parameter locks) but found the sequencing frustrating due to being heavy on-page swapping to write very short sections.

Recently I found some of my frustrations were alleviated when running the app in OSX as I ran into fewer input accidents than on my iPhone. After watching and listening to Gesceap's music and youtube tutorials, I thought I would give Nanoloop another chance. This recording was the result of improvising with the app.

Adding samples to Nanoloop is not currently supported on OSX because it wasn't built for desktop use originally. All extra percussion had to be resampled from the app or added in post. I reached out to the developer and they have stated they would update the app to support adding sample files in a future update.

The result is lackluster imho but helped me build a better connection with the software.

Gear used:
M1 Macbook pro
Nanoloop duh! tongue
Ableton (post-processing and Layered kick drum to fill out my weaker resampled one)

ooh, really enjoying the aphexy lead tones and the sharp percussion. would love to hear more of this style with the nanoloop instrumentation!

Nice warpy soundspheres. like it.
