Simple spacey house song. Nothing fancy. Just good practice.

Gear used:
Realistic MG-1
Juno-6
DX7
tr-808 (sampled from a friend's unit)

sounds electro-y, has this detroit feel to it. That bass comes in just perfect. Ive been meaning to ask you but do you record everything to audio straight from the machines? Or do you record into a DAW then process?

Yo i just checked your website, are you loctated in SF?

It depends. For songs like this I tend to write bits of song on hardware or improvisations, record into daw, arrange, layer, process, and mix, using some of the VSTs in ableton. By write I mean experiment until something takes shape really. I am not really the type of person who can just know exactly how they want to structure things and executes it. I work a little more fluid like through playing with recorded loops.

Recently I have been doing 100% improved hardware sets using some basic loops and tweeking too. In those cases i record directly from the mixer into a portable recording device in stereo. I am still figuring out a good workflow for when I am doing that kind of setup. Often times i end up using both methods with my live gear being processed in ableton while i improvise and recording to a stereo mix down. I try to mix it up with my process so things don't get too stagnant for me.

I actually moved out of the city a while ago but live pretty near by still. SF is still my main place of operation in music world though.

You should listen to Pulsetrade's music here in WB, though it's a shame he seems to be inactive lately.

I feel the Detroit electro energy along with some more spacey-dreamy vibe.

I really love this. Downloaded and faved, no doubt
