Draw (live improvisation)

By ENC_ on January 16, 2016 9:44 am

I recently have been trying to build a hardware groove setup for live play and a different workflow from my set ones. It is coming together slowly but surely. This is a live session that I made through building some short patterns and then improvising with while knob twiddling. I have actually been doing similar live exploration sessions for a while now and have been recoding them to share on youtube. I am still learning the ins and outs of these instruments so please excuse the crudeness.

you can watch the session below:

If you are curious about the other sessions you can check them out here:

Gear used:
Elektron analog rytm
Bastl instruments microgranny
DSI Tetra
meeblip anode
arturia minibrute

lexicon alex rack for reverb
some c64 samples i made for last weeks beats

I love the... Well, all of the everything really.

oh nice I dig it big_smile

there's nothing wrong with the crudeness, i hope you won't get rid of it for it gives the track extra character in my opinion. faved.

i know i am in the minority, but i usually prefer improvisation usually. too much stuff is overwrought, too contrived, or overproduced.

Really good stuff, specially if it was made on the go. Lots of energy on it

Really cool. Can't say I've heard too many improvisational attempts so far, but this is really good. All the various loops and patterns give a strange, driving calm to the track. It's because each element is so distinct that the tune feels so cohesive.

Nice work! Given the live setup I like how you're able to make quick progression and drop beats and new parts at the right time.

I think you have the feeling of what makes a good live rendition of material. The mix is constantly evolving and drawing the listener in. At this point its small things like sound design and making suonds stand out in the mix
