“I've got the key to my castle in the air, but whether I can unlock the door remains to be seen.”
― Louisa May Alcott, Little Women

“Let the people discover you! You might have the key of the locked doors in their lives! Open yourself to the world; you might be the magic the world needs!”  ― Mehmet Murat ildan

"And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom..." -Matthew 16:18

Very much digging this hypnotic piece.  Nice ostinato, and I really like the long notes of the reverbed vocals over the percussion and synths. (I'd think maybe bring them up a notch or two in the mix...but then again, having them low does lend to the atmosphere of obscurity and mystery.)  Well done!

Thank you M! - I totally agree with your thoughts on the vocals & was feeling torn about having them forward more... I broke/stepped on my nice recording headphones in the garden last week & was using low quality earbuds & bad built in speakers to listen & mix this.  I really struggled with the mix on this (plus I was feeling self-conscious with my vocals).  I may re-record the vocals & remix this piece as some point with working headphones smile

Ouch!  I've killed multiple pairs of headphones (by working with filter primitives in Pure Data and, um, patching them up wrong, melting the coil), so I get it. Good luck with getting new headphones!  (Anything but Beats or Sony!)

You had the key smile
Beautiful piece!

My new earphones came in time for this weeks project - they are not fancy but i'm gonna use them for Ham radio stuff too & the way I go through headphones - I like them quite a bit more than the sony ones I've used in this price range... also Josh showed me how to mess with the eq & stuff so I can play with the vocals a bit more - I'm learning so much week by week!  So fun!  Now what do we do with all the broken & melted headphones?
