the days are short

the days are short
the light is gone
the dark days are here

the pressure is on
the year draws to an end
the days are growing dark

the days are short
the light is gone

We did what we could, now let's be together and enjoy the darkness together with a little light.

nicely build up. love all those little sounds in the background. they give a lot of atmosphere to the track.

Totally vibe with the sentiment.  It feels like I was just swimming and lamenting the summer heat and now it's already Christmas time.  The minimalist feel of this one is cool.

that light stepping beat, the perfect base to your shadowy-ninja of a voice.
like some ritual dance of light through crystal smile

really cool slinky beat.
I am enjoying the darkness, though - sleeping better than I have in months smile

I AM COUNT DRACULA
I'm sorry to hear that sad also preemptively sorry to start another one of these threads on your tunes but here goes...
when I briefly lived in Alaska, Seasonal Affective Disorder was very, very common. you have likely have looked into this already, but just in case you haven't, lots of folks got relief from full-spectrum lights. for non-bloodsuckers who walk among us, they can help control circadian rhythms and moods a bit.

so you are using your count dracula powers to read my mind today too eh? - i've always been skeptical about those working and heard someone on a podcast mention those lights a few hours ago and wondered about them...

i actually slept in today for the first time in a while (weird stress dreams though - that better not be you too count!) & it's been a lot quieter in the neighborhood lately - and the sleep stuff goes in cycles that are likely hormonal...

i felt kinda down/moody today & it was really overcast
it does seem that the less time i spend outdoors the more down i feel
of course being inside generally means i'm moving less too... i know those are related

i have vampiric tendencies in that i HATE overly bright lights and only keep warm very low watt bulbs in fixtures, use candles often instead of electric light and have orange filters on my computer etc...
can you put sunglasses on when you sit in front of those?
often bright lights = migraines for me

i guess i will never know if those lights help me if i never try them eh?
if nothing else i bet the plants i took inside to over winter would like them smile

ha, 'tis the season, eh? so glad you got the chance to get some more shut eye. I've got a little extra noise around the pad very recently and coincidentally that is messing with my sleep at the moment. my sleep jacked-ness seems cyclical also. a friend of mine uses her period tracker for stuff like that and as a cis dude that wouldn't have occurred to me, but now I'm thinking I might just confuse the algorithm and see what I'm missing out on...

I get the lack of outdoors thing too. I've hardly left the house the last few days. but I went out and shoveled the crap out of this disgusting slush and felt exhausted but also weirdly energized. maybe I needed that.

I hate overly bright lights as well, especially overhead. I was using the orange filters too! those were nice... not sure about sunglasses, maybe you don't need them? I think it's supposed to be more of an ambient thing. the pictures I've seen, it's kind of off to the side. hopefully that's not too annoying for you.

ha, yeah, I was thinking that! I think they are slightly different from grow lights? maybe not though? I've seen some really funky grow light configurations lately, like where they tier them in big warehouses. who knows, though. yeah, worth a shot. could be fun smile

Love the minimal vibes and that sweet synth bass line with your vocals is evoking a bjork-like atmosphere. Sorry to hear about the migraines and such.  I tend to avoid the outdoors myself for many reasons but I def can relate to the light sensitivity.  We had couple of overcast days this past week and it brought on a migraine.  The kind where you just avoid all light and loudness.  The shades are always drawn etc lately.  Hopefully when the new year arrives that rejuvenating feeling will kick in smile

Love all the activity in the background with the minimal arrangement in the foreground.  Creates a big world!

Love the sparse beat / plenty of room for Emily vocals. This is way dope.

Was looking for "drum machine" and thought the energy of this gif matched the track perfectly:

oh thank you - your gif made me think of the sprinkler dance & now i can't unhear that beat click as a sprinkler

This has a nice night, winter season feeling, I like the texture and crackles. Bass is catchy! The season is starting to weigh on me a bit. I can handle the short days if I go outside and walk around a bit, but we've had some super cold here in the inland NW, hard to get out for too long and enjoy. I greatly reduced the booze and that has been nice, found that some CBD is nice this winter for sleep tho.

Heh, love the Ferris Bueller setup, out of the blue. Nice sparse buildup and the way the it locks into step when the bass part comes in. Have really enjoyed listening to your music this year.

can relate to the lack of outdoor contact messing with me - CBD has been really helpful for Josh's sleep
