Let The Arp Do Its Thing

By embix on April 19, 2026 5:54 pm

This week I did a take on one of my favorite songs. Just a few synths playing simple patterns, a lead arp and a (probably bored) drum machine. Did take more time than anticipated but I enjoyed making this one a lot. The mix could probably be better, but at least we're practicing, right?

I love the retro vibe - that bass, the arps, the drum machine, THE KEY CHANGES AT 2:34 ON...yeah favourited.

The interplay between the synths is very cool and the peak in resonance before the drums kick in is sweet.

I like high synth part sound a lot.

The chord change at the end is really nice I would have liked to have heard more of that earlier it's very Kraftwerk

Thanks. Initially I considered switching between two keys in the first part, but decided against it as it may be spoiling the climax and distract from the changes in timbre.

Aside: in the past I've been stuck between two-three keys looping. I might give it a shot again, but as modification later in the process when all components are ready for arrangement 🤔

So many cool moments.. When the pad comes in, the little bit of chaos in the middle and then the keychange shortly before the end. Amazing stuff!

Thanks. Yea it's a bit of a buildup until pads/drums finally come in. As I said, it was a lot of fun to make.
