Your Mind Is Out There Somewhere | Pounding Techno Acid

Week 12 and once again I left it until the last minute to make a track. I'm not sure why that is this year, but it's a recurring theme for me. Anyway, don't let the intro fool you. This is a simple acid techno track. Because, realistically, that's all that time permitted. I'm sure the mix could be better, as this was done on the fly. But I like the raw, punchy energy of it. Or at least right now I do.

Any and all feedback is welcome! And if you comment I'll comment back for sure.

Acid techno for the win! smile I admire that you ran out of time but still produced a 6 minute track.

Thank you and yes, Lol. There is actually a good reason for that. As I'm sure you know. Music, and especially techno, relies on repetition.

At its heart this track is three distinct acid patterns. And each pattern is really just one bar long. Repeating over and over again with some filter cutoff and resonances tweaks along the way. To keep it from going too stale. Combined with a few chords, basic drums and drum fills. And a little arpeggio later on. So the basic building blocks are simple and short.

Then it's a matter of sequencing aka copy/paste the sections. Mute some stuff, and a small variation here there. Followed by a play through while tweaking knobs. And then bang, you have a 6 minute track.

So if you can make 4 distinct bars of music, you can stretch that into a 4 to 6 minute track quite easily. Just add time (instead of water). lol

Thanks for listening!

damn this mix is clean (especially the beginning). not what I expected from reading your notes. can't go wrong with some acid but my favorite part of this is the intro which is lovely atmosphere and sound design. nice work

Raw and unfiltered acid goodness

The mix is crystal clear! I indeed would not expect acid techno after that intro. It is an interesting contrast that works very well. I like how this drone (chord?) appears around 2.20, 2.30. Maybe it could be even a bit more present? It has something menacing, but could be more so. The way that the acid line ramps up in pitch is a nice detail; it builds an ominous kind of energy. smile It kinda resolves into something a bit more uplifting, which I didn't expect. I would personally perhaps end with a sequence that is a bit more aggressive in tone; keeping the ominous feeling that you had going.

Really solid, especially for "last minute" work!

I just went "oh fuck". This is not a genre i'm super familiar with, but that shit hit like a truck. Insane. Hyper agressive.

Love it!
