That Place You Were Going | Dark, hypnotic introspective Techno in 9/8 using hardware

This is a track to zone out to. Dark, hypnotic and introspective techno. A 9/8 groove over a four to the floor kick. Layered with abstract soundscapes and melodic fragments. A slow burn that rewards both patience, and the willingness to surrender. To go with the flow.

Recorded layer using a bunch of hardware synths and outboard gear. Including Behringer RD-8 on drums, 2600, Roland System-8 various sounds. Anasound Element Spring Reverb, Aleisis 3630, MidiverbIII and field recordings.

Really groovy thx

Nice track, really put me in a different state of consciousness for 11mn - I weirdly feel more relaxed now??

Very nice. That poly rhythmic stuff feels great. The evolution is confident in it's progression, with a slow abstract morph. Was this a live hardware take with some additions added afterwards or was it a more produced affair?

Than you ENC_! The process was a bit of both, really.  I first recorded the drums. Continuously tweaking the knobs on the RD-8. Then I did the second pass, playing with all the other sounds and responding to what I did in the drums. I would love to have done it all in a single take. But unfortunately I'm not an octopus. And it's really important to have drum sounds in constant motion to keep the loop fresh. Does this answer your question?
