Munkulo

Music created by playing a 15 step sequence on a Korg SQ-1's CV Output (that had only a few notes actually trigger) into the Sync input on a second Korg SQ-1 that randomly played one of four notes. I then ran the MIDI output into the input on my TD-3, which then went through a multi effects pedal with delay and reverb. I took the CV out from the TD-3 and used it to modify the pitch and LFO rate of my Stylophone CPM-DS2. I then manually modified the cutoff, resonance, and volume of the DS2 and TD-3 so they would come in and out in the manner of a more traditional song.
For the drums, I created a poly rhythm  on my Korg Volca Drum synthesizer that played a kick every 5, a tap every 7, and a cymbal every 9 beats. I set the kick to choke the tap and cymbal, and the tap to choke the cymbal, so the notes wouldn't overlap when multiple drums hit at the same time.
I recorded the whole thing at a really slow BPM, so I sped it up by about 130% and pitched it slightly down to compensate for the higher speed. I also added a lowpass filter on the drone with some keyframes that moved it up and down to allow for the tones to pass through without them becoming grating.

Video is footage of a pilgrimage I took with my mother and wife to Chimayo. There are a lot of interesting folks and modes of transportation that people take to get there. There's a hill a few miles away from the church that I am especially fond of, so I wanted to end the video there. The video was processed by first desaturating, then increasing the contrast of the footage until it was this almost glitchy black and white. I manually adjusted the settings of each shot to showcase the subject as best I was able to.

Hypnotising stuff. Love the video, each frame looks like a painting.

The video in conjunction with the music creates a nice otherworldly effect.  It felt a little disorienting in a good way.
