Play On Repeat

By E-dub on April 8, 2016 3:04 pm

This is essentially two doubled guitar tracks (four total) and drums. The background guitar is my Washburn acoustic played fingerstyle with minimal effects (very little compression, eq, and a touch of reverb) copied to two channels and panned 50%ish left and right with a little delay on one (about 20ms). The lead guitar is also my Washburn acoustic but played with a pick and run through a relatively clean amp. The effects are similar to the other guitar but with a bit more delay and I digitally tuned the delayed track up a minor third.

You managed to get a really interesting atmosphere here, Edmund. Sometimes reminds me of Calexico and a bar later it's like the best 90s Tortoise. Really enjoying this one, the melody drifts away like dreaming, yet mantaining coherence. I think it's a very good original piece, but labels aside, I'm enjoying it smile

Hope to catch up with some of your past work (so little tiiiiime this last few weeks!)

Definitely digging the guitar sound on this one.  Nice melody and the track has a nice full sound to it.

Thanks.  I liked it before I changed the pitch of the right channel lead guitar up a minor third, but when I did that it really added an extra "je ne sais quoi."  Now  I have to listen to some of the Calexico and Tortoise that you mention since I've never heard of them.  smile

Thank you for listening and commenting.  I really appreciate it.

I'm always impressed by people who can play their instruments in "real time." And this is impressive. Nice work!

I really like the spaciousness of this track.  got a good groove going on.  great work!

The guitar melody actually reminds me of your voice (which makes sense I guess). I like the experimentation with different picking techniques, too!

Nice sounds here, great drums

Totally getting the Calexico/Friends of Dean Martinez vibe from this. Immensely enjoyable.

Thanks, it's taken a lot of guitar and keyboard practice to get to this point.
