Remember Us

By Dyrt Dyzyrt on March 1, 2026 4:20 am

Hey friends!
Whewww, I managed to put this one together in a few hours this weekend, which I did not think I would ever be able to do! It's maybe not as polished as I would like but I'm still pretty happy with it. Here's hoping I can keep up my bi-weekly streak (teehee).

This week I was reflecting on embracing doing things I enjoy, even if I'm decidedly bad at them. For example, I've started learning how to play the highland bagpipes and it's... challenging. But I love it, and I suppose that's what matters.

Anyway... here are some lyrics.

Remember Us

Lined, worn and a little bit frayed
Like the binding of a cherished book
Memories lost but the story remains
If anyone would bother to look

Whose pages are still being written
Whose story is still being told
By those who came after
By those who pass it on
Remember us, we're still here

Live on, 'cause the circle never ends
The tides pull us all in and out
Life will be bitter, full of loss and pain
Not everything works out

It's the tales we tell our children
It's the dream of a magic spell
It's the promise of a world
a little kinder than our own
It's the hope of a wishing well

Whose pages are still being written
Whose story is still being told
By those who came after
By those who pass it on
Remember us, we're still here
Remember us, we're still here
Remember us, we're still here

Love the instrumentation of this track! Bass absolutely carries it, and your vocals are great. Everything sits in its own place so well - nice feeling of space smile

Also, yay bagpipes! And yay for the idea of giving yourself the space and grace to be bad at something. Sometimes we get better at it. Sometimes we don’t…but it doesn’t matter if we’re having fun!

Thank you so much! I have a hard time with letting my songs feel "sparse" and letting things breath so that was great feedback.

Pure poetry in lyrics and music!

Christ on a cracker, I love this.

Loved from the first note! I was waiting for the bagpipes to kick in... guess I'll have to wait a little longer wink Thanks!!!

Congratulations!   I wish we had a certificate for this; holy-shit-i-made-something-that-sounds-good-in-just-a-few-hours-because-no-more-time is a defacto Weeklybeats rite of passage.  And the best part is, no one would be able to tell―it sounds great.

Haha Sorry, I suppose my write-up is a little misleading. Thank you for the kind comment!
I suspect once I'm ready to share a song with bagpipes they are going to be an absolute bear to record, but it'll be worth it if I can pull it off!

i believe you will do it!

I'm kind of working backwards through your stuff, so I just wanted to comment:
1. You're a really good writer. I very much enjoy your texts.
2. PLEASE, post the bag pipes!!!!!

i thought the flute thing was the bagpipes?  but the flute thing is awesome!
