The Yuletide Technological Symphony

By Dwight Davis on November 18, 2012 9:16 pm

Oh my goodness. What a song. For the past week, just about every day, I've slaved over this piece of work for hours on end. This one has a bit of a backstory.
Last year, one of the things that helped win me over to the idea of Weekly Beats was the fact that I put together several Christmas songs for the holidays. It was these songs that helped me realize how much I enjoy music, and dedicate my year to music with this site. So, I've decided I'm going to do Christmas music again this year. I also have decided to get a decent head start on the project (hence the pre-Thanksgiving Christmas song). For the next few weeks, probably up until close to Christmas, I'll be releasing Christmas songs. This is the first (and hopefully best) of them.
The idea behind this song was simply to compile a ton of Christmas songs into one song in my own style. This song contains 10 seperate tunes, in this order.
-Carol of the Bells
-God Bless Ye Merry Gentlemen
-O Come, O Come Emanuel
-We Three Kings
-What Child is This
-Twelve Days of Christmas
-Good King Wenceslas (I think I misspelled that)
-Rudolph the Red-Nose Reindeer
-O Holy Night
-Hark, the Herald Angels Sing
This is not only one of the most well-done songs I have completed, but it's also one of my favorites. Though, I'm planning on changing TONS of this song. This is simply a rough draft. I need to know what to change when I get around to it, so please help by leaving a comment and saying what you'd like to see changed. It would help so much. Enjoy, and thanks.

(PS: The song was too large for a WB upload in its original state, so I had to shave off part of the intro and ending. This resulted in my carelessly messing with an automation clip, and causing most of the chords parts of the song to be off. Sorry.)

This is cool... dark new wave/dance side of Christmas.  Looking forward to getting my holiday music this way! Very inventive arrangement.

Rudolph is my fav

Hilarious! Love it mate

WOO! I really liked that! Super fun and pumping and it moves from one song to the next very smoothly! Since you are asking for things to adjust; I think you should waver the volume on the snare near the beginning per hit so it sounds more organic. Great work!

I was thinking that exact thing earlier today, PWR. Glad you guys like it. Lots of more Christmas songs to come, so keep tuned in. I'll post a link to the finished product at some point.

By the way, some things got really messed up in this version because of editing, such as the O Come O Come Emanuel with the backing chords. Also, NWSPR, Rudolph is my favorite too.
